July 27th 2011, VIC will be once again the stage for children's and youth choirs from around the world. Under the slogan "Coming together to sing, Singing for a better future", and under the patronage of Dr. Heinz Fischer, the federal President of Austria, the young participants of the festival will visit VIC again and perform on the central square (VIC Plaza, beside the fountain).

The World Peace Choral Festival celebrated its premiere in August 2010. International children's and youth choirs sang together for peace. Choirs that participated in the founding of the festival were, among others, the Prague Philharmonic Children's Choir, the Vienna Boys' Choir, singers from the Calgary Boys Choir of Canada, DO-RE-MI Children´s Choir from Tyrol, the Pielachtaler Children's Choir, and seven choirs from China. During the festival, a new children’s choir, namely: the World Peace Choir (WPC) was established under the leadership of Gerald Wirth, the artistic director of the famous Vienna Boys' Choir. Welt Friedens Chor Festival
25. – 28. Juli 2011, Wien
Zwischen 25 – 28. Juli 2011 wird Wien wieder zur Bühne für Kinder-und Jugendchöre aus der ganzen Welt. Unter dem Motto „Coming together to sing. Singing for a better future“ werden die jungen TeilnehmerInnen Zeichen zum Thema Weltfrieden setzen. Der Konzert-Höhepunkt des Festivals wird am 28. Juli im weltberühmten „Goldenen Saal des Musikvereins“ stattfinden. Neben den Konzerten werden Workshops unter der Leitung von Gerald Wirth, welcher auch künstlerischer Leiter der Wiener Sängerknaben ist, gestaltet.
Im August 2010 feierte das „Welt Friedens Chor Festival“ seine Premiere. Internationale Kinder- und Jugendchöre sangen gemeinsam für den Frieden. Chöre, die an der Geburtsstunde des Festivals teilnahmen waren u. A. der Prager Philharmonische Kinderchor, die Wiener Sängerknaben, Sänger des Calgary Boys Choir aus Canada, DO-RE-MI Kindergesangsstudio aus Tirol, der Pielachtaler Kinderchor, und 7 Chöre aus China. Die Auftritte fanden allesamt in namhaften Wiener Institutionen so wie dem Umland von Wien statt (Konzerthaus Wien, United Nations Vienna, Festsaal der Uni. Wien, Rathaus etc.).
Mit viel Staunen und Faszination haben die jungen SängerInnen während gemeinsam besuchter Musikworkshops zu israelischer, lateinamerikanischer und österreichischer Musik sowohl ihren musikalischen- als auch kulturellen Horizont erweitert. Im Rahmen vom Abendprogramm wurden die erfolgreichen Konzertauftritte gefeiert und neue weltumspannende Freundschaften geknüpft.
Während des Festivals wurden vom Artistischen Komitee, unter der Leitung von Gerald Wirth, besonders begnadete SängerInnen für den Welt Friedens Chor ausgewählt, welcher in den kommenden Jahren in die Welt reisen wird um Konzerte, die im Zeichen des Friedens stehen, zu geben. Musik ist jener Schatz den sich Menschen unterschiedlichster Kulturen teilen- der es vermag, Menschen zu verbinden. Das “Welt Friedens Chor Festival” im Juli 2011 gibt Kinder-und Jugendchören aus der ganzen Welt wieder die Möglichkeit, gemeinsam zu feiern, Freundschaften zu schließen und ein Zeichen des Friedens zu setzen.
World Peace Choir Festival

From July 25 - 28, 2011, Vienna will once again be the stage for children's and youth choirs from around the world. Under the slogan "Coming together to sing, Singing for a better future", the young participants will model and promote world peace. The choral highlight of the festival will take place on July 28th in the world-renowned "Golden Hall" of the Musikverein. In addition to the concerts, workshops will be organized and conducted by Gerald Wirth, artistic director of the Vienna Boys' Choir.
The "World Peace Choir Festival" celebrated its premiere in August 2010. International children's and youth choirs sang together for peace. Choirs that participated in the founding of the festival were, among others, the Prague Philharmonic Children's Choir, the Vienna Boys' Choir, singers from the Calgary Boys Choir of Canada, DO-RE-MI Children´s Choir from Tyrol, the Pielachtaler Children's Choir, and seven choirs from China. Performances took place at well-known institutions in and around Vienna (Vienna Concert Hall, United Nations in Vienna, the Grand Celebration Hall of the University of Vienna, the City Hall of Vienna, etc.).

With fascination and wonder, the young singers attended music workshops together. They were exposed to Israeli, Latin American and Austrian music, expanding both their musical and cultural horizons. As part of the evening program, campfires as well as exchanges and meetings were organized and new global friendships were formed. During the festival, the Artistic Committee, under the direction of Gerald Wirth, selected particularly gifted singers for the World Peace Choir. In the coming years, The Choir will travel around the globe to give concerts promoting world peace.
Music is the common language of our world. In July 2011, the "World Peace Choir Festival" will again give children's and youth choirs from around the world the opportunity to celebrate together, make friends and promote peace.
